The television industry suffered huge losses due to the coronavirus pandemic as all the shoots were on halt for four months. The shoots resumed in the month of June, after the Maharashtra government came out with a list of guidelines to be followed by the cast and crew. Actor Ssharad Malhotra recently made a comeback to television with supernatural fantasy saga, Naagin 5. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes TV, the actor opened about his thoughts on pay cuts and admits that even he has reworked on his price.
“I am someone who likes to speak his mind. A lot of time it creates controversy, but I won’t shy away from commenting on this important topic. I feel it is a very testing time for everyone. Be it a producer, channel, actor or any technicians, it is very difficult for everyone. We all have to agree and come to a common point if the producer is facing any kind of issues as actors and technicians we need to understand. Because if tomorrow the producer is doing well, I am sure even he will understand that these were the people who stood by me in the difficult time. It is very give and take. This is what I’ve understood in my career and after being a part of the industry for 14-15 years,” says the actor.
He added further, “You have to understand the situation. Today, if my producer tells me Sharad that there is a budget constraint, and financial crunch and we have to financially be a little tight, because we want the product to look good, so it’s ok. It is fair and enough. I have always said that if there’s anything that I can do to help, my producer I will. Because at the moment everybody like I said, we need to help each other. It’s a period when we have to help each other. So, yes I’ve done that. I have reworked on my price and It’s not just me everybody, even the technicians, everyone has come together as a family. We have stuck together and there for each other.”
Sharad plays Vir in Naagin 5 which also stars Surbhi Chandna and Mohit Shegal in prominent roles.
