CHENNAI: Playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who was admitted to MGM Healthcare in Chennai due to Covid-19, remains on ventilator and ECMO support in the intensive care unit, said a medical bulletin issued by the hospital on Monday evening.
“His current clinical condition is stable,” said the bulletin issued by MGM Healthcare assistant director Dr Anuradha Baskaran.
SPB is closely monitored by a multidisciplinary clinical team in the hospital.
On Saturday, the hospital said: “Our multidisciplinary clinical team is actively collaborating with international experts from reputed centres in the US and the UK that have witnessed large volumes of Covid-19 patients requiring ECMO support.”
“The international experts concur with the clinical care that is being provided by our medical team to SP Balasubrahmanyam,” it said.
The 74-year-old singer was admitted to hospital on August 5 with mild symptoms. His condition deteriorated on August 13.
